about my PhD Laboratory Work
A month or two ago, I outlined the process undertaken to ascertain how organic my soil samples are. This involved a procedure called Loss on Ignition (LOI) whereby the organics were burnt off in a furnace and the mass lost was measured.
This week, I explain how I employed another method - CN analysis - to validate the data from the LOI process, and how I received some very different results. I also outline a third method - Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) - which slowly heats the samples and records the mass lost along the way. Click on the link below to find out more!
